Dear Editor, Please join us in celebrating some unsung heroes of our communities - the foster families who open their homes to children in crisis.

The trouble with elections is, once they’re over, they’re forgotten — at least when it comes to the logistical bumps in the road. Some area residents have taken to social media to decry a lack of advance polls for the Oct. 21 municipal election.

In a perfect world, we would consciously be thankful for each day. But, we are only human. Often it becomes easy to lose sight of the good things, especially with cold and dreary weather lurking around the corner.

Dear Editor, This summer I had the privilege of volunteering at the Barrhead Public Library which was so much fun that I still loiter around helping out through the week.

Dear Editor, I was told by the Town Manager and three Councillors that the Town Manager is closing the swimming pool in 2014. The swimming pool has not been shut down for its annual cleaning and repair, which it needs very badly.

Dear Editor, In response to the two letters to the editor in the Oct. 8 Barrhead Leader, FACES (Ft. Assiniboine &Community Enhancement Society) hosted a successful forum for the four candidates from the Ft.

Dear Editor, I would like to say thank you to the Barrhead Leader for its positive coverage of the ProLife Chain event. I was there too, but I have to admit, as a man, I did not enjoy it or feel good about it.

Dear Editor, I think we do but at what cost? The 6 lane 25 metre lap pool is essential, that is only one more lane than we have now, a zero entry pool for children is very important and we all love our whirlpool.

As you contemplate going to the polls this Monday, Oct. 21 for the general election, remember one important thing: your vote matters.

Fire Prevention Week is upon us, and there are a bevy of messages we should all take to heart from organizations across North America. Albertans are being told to have two ways out in the case of a fire, whether that’s at home or in a workplace.
