Dear Editor, We would like to give kudos to the County Road Crew who completed the hardtop on the Lightning Bay Road. We were thrilled not to have to deal with standing oil, as it is our only way in and out. Thanks for the great job.

The Westlock community has once again shown itself adept at coming through when times are tough.

The new Dr. Georges L. Whissell Park at the north end of Main Street in Westlock, formerly the site of Towne Square Park, is a fitting tribute to the man who served the community for 55 years.

So we will have a mayoral race, after all. The decision of long-time businessman Mark Vriend to challenge Gerry St. Pierre for the Mayor’s office has added huge excitement to the Oct. 21 municipal election.
