Last Friday marked the third annual Walk a Mile In Her Shoes event in Athabasca, as well as the first such event in Westlock and Barrhead.

It’s almost here...more nail-biting, dirt-flying, top-notch action. That’s right folks, the Wildrose Rodeo speeds into town this weekend, and is sure to give a great show as it does every year.

As a fashion statement, Barrhead’s “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” challenge probably lacked a certain elegance. Not that anyone should be surprised by Friday’s spectacle at the IGA parking lot.

Dear Editor, I am writing in regards to my August dentist appointment, repair of my broken tooth. The repair was successful and I am thankful.

The Westlock community has once again shown itself adept at coming through when times are tough.

The new Dr. Georges L. Whissell Park at the north end of Main Street in Westlock, formerly the site of Towne Square Park, is a fitting tribute to the man who served the community for 55 years.

So we will have a mayoral race, after all. The decision of long-time businessman Mark Vriend to challenge Gerry St. Pierre for the Mayor’s office has added huge excitement to the Oct. 21 municipal election.
