Dear Editor, I feel compelled to comment on the Dale Schaffrick fiasco. Listening to the media one would think he had committed an ultimate wrong against society. In my humble opinion Dale made two mistakes.

Dear Editor, I’m getting tired of putting up with people that have no respect for others, or for their community. Case in point, I go to the Hospital and I take off my shoes, as many other do, because they are wet and muddy.

Dear Editor, Heads up to Barrhead Residents! This past weekend my family and I were at the hospital visiting my dad whom has broken his neck.

Dear Editor, On December 7th we picked up two parcels at Barrhead Sears and then went shopping. When we got home, one of the packages was missing, apparently it had slid out when our van door was opened.

Those looking to refresh themselves with a dive into a brand new pool in Athabasca shouldn’t grab their swim trunks just yet.

Many local charities have been the beneficiaries of the spirit of giving this community displays during the Christmas season: Santa’s Anonymous, Coats for Kids, the Westlock Food Bank, the Hope Resource Centre … the list goes on.

While young people, and teenagers in particular, often get a bad rap for being a bunch of lazy layabouts, it’s good news all around to see several recent events or initiatives working to combat that image.

The holiday season is becoming more evident in Barrhead with each passing day. The snow is getting deeper and the nights are getting colder. The Christmas lights are becoming ever brighter, and more lawn decorations are making their grand debut.

Dear Editor, I would like to commend the County of Barrhead staff on their dedication to the taxpayers in their area.

Pembina Hills school division trustee Dale Schaffrick’s apology for comments he made suggesting students should “act less gay” to avoid being bullied is a step in the right direction.
