Dear Editor, Premier Redford has announced her intentions to enact legislation preventing parents from smoking in their cars while children are riding with them. I'm sure we all applaud the Premier's desire to protect the children of Alberta.

The holidays are a special time for everyone, no matter which of them you celebrate. There is no shortage of holidays at this time of year (as evidenced by today’s editorial cartoon).

It is perhaps quite appropriate that the Christmas holiday falls a scant four days after the shortest day of the year.

Now for a two-part test. Part A: What is the Golden Rule? A cinch for most people, I expect. No need to ask an expert, phone a friend or use any other lifeline. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” is the collective response. Correct.

Dear Editor, I understand that when I turn 65, I am not capable of driving a school bus anymore, but I need an extension to finish off this school year. So if it is going to help me drive, I am now asking for that extension. What a grand finale.

Dear Editor, We owe Terry and his wife from B.A.R.S. a debt of gratitude for all the service work they do. They take in strays, unwanted animals and abused animals.

Westlock County councillors have potentially opened a can of worms in regards to their assistance to local organizations looking to secure better interest rates when borrowing funds. Earlier this year, the county agreed to borrow $5.

Once again, something stinks at Pembina Hills. The school division is again without a superintendent after last week’s announcement that Egbert Stang’s last day with the division was Dec. 4.

At the end of October 2010 former Supt. Richard Harvey parted company with Pembina Hills sooner than anticipated. Did he resign or was he terminated? PHRD has never said.

I don’t know what’s in the water around here, but I’m not sure I want to drink it anymore. I’m afraid if I do I’m either going to get fired or resign for some reason. Let me explain.
