Sometimes the Steelers’ opponents this season were bigger, sometimes faster, sometimes luckier. Never, however, were they gutsier, never more focused, never more determined.

The Barrhead Figure Skating Club had a successful weekend in Grande Prairie March 22-23 at the North Peace Open Competition, bringing home eight medals.

There will be a soccer season in Westlock after some last-minute volunteers stepped up to keep Westlock Soccer going.

There were about 50 curlers signed up for the inaugural Crazy Curling Jugspiel, and all evidence points to the fact the event lived up to its name.

The Westlock Tier 4 Midget Warriors overcame a slow start to the season to perform well in the playoffs, earning the consolation title in the 1660 Hockey League.

Westlock’s bantam ‘A’ Warriors are league champions. The team brought home the 1660 Hockey League Tier 4 banner after notching a thrilling 3-2 win in a shootout on the road against the Tofield Titans on March 22.

Nineteen teams battled each other and some tricky ice conditions last weekend during the 2014 Athabasca Curling Club Mens Bonspiel. In the end, all three of Sunday’s event finals came down to the wire.

The Edwin Parr Composite School co-ed cheerleading team placed third at the Alberta High School Athletic Association Provincials Tournament last Saturday in Edmonton. Head cheerleading coach Barb Lachance had nothing but praise for her team.

The Barrhead Bantam Pirates finished their season on top of the world, claiming gold in the 1660 league championship against the Vegreville Wranglers.

The Barrhead Steelers have done it. After four days of hard-fought hockey in Edson, the boys have been named the 2014 Alberta Midget B Provincial champions. Proud coach Jason Murrell said the boys perfomed very well over the course of the tournament.
