Edwin Parr Composite’s (EPC) junior varsity girls basketball team was the favourite to win zones last weekend, and they did not disappoint; however, the tournament still had tense moments, said coach Janelle Tarrant.

This past weekend the Barrhead Composite High School boys curling team travelled to Leduc to compete in Provincials.

For the third year in a row, Barrhead boys claimed first place in the junior high divisional tournament, hosted at Barrhead Composite High School over the weekend. The boys however faced some tough competition in order to get there.

There’s no two ways around it, Westlock Bantam ‘B’ Warriors’ coach Tate McNelly has only one goal in mind for the Provincial Bantam ‘C’ tournament his team will be at in Rimbey this weekend. “I go into everything thinking I’m going to win,” he said.

Three years later, seven teammates from the last Westlock minor hockey team to host a provincial tournament are teaming up again in hopes of bringing provincial glory to town.

The Athabasca Figure Skating Club will perform “Hijacked Fairytales” at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex on March 9. The show begins at 1 p.m., and more than 80 skaters will grace the ice as fairytale characters.
