R.F. Staples’ senior boys basketball team is off to a good start this season, having won eight of nine games as the team headed into the weekend tournament in Lac La Biche. The team won the Whitecourt tournament Dec.

Westlock Thunderbirds linebacker Royce Hadley was recognized as Most Valuable Defensive Player for Tier 2 of the Wheatland Football League on Dec. 23 as part of an assembly recognizing many R.F. Staples students.

The 2010/2011 hockey season was a roaring success for Westlock’s Midget Sabres as the sliced their way through the competition to the league title in March.

Although Westlock Bowl’s general focus is knocking down pins, the centre will direct efforts towards knocking down cancer for the month of January.

Roughly 40 kids are lacing up their skates and hitting the ice each week with one goal in mind: to have fun.
