The Athabasca Trappers' squirts-level softball team hosted a game against Barrhead June 14 at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex, and it was not at all the result they had hoped for.

Things were a little evenly matched for the Athabasca Trappers Team 2 peewee softball action June 7. They were in Westlock playing against the Wild's Team 1, where after five innings, played to a 22-all draw.

The season continued June 7 for both of the Athabasca Trappers' Mites softball teams, as they played each other at the Mosquito Ball Diamond at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex.

The Boyle Minor Ball Association is hosting the Pembina Baseball Association's Mosquito year-end tournament June 16. Ten other teams will join the Boyle Bandits to wrap up their season at Millview Park.

The Athabasca Pee Wee Trappers baseball teams played twice against each other May 29 and 31, and each of them went 1-and-1. The first night, the game went at Jewell Ball Park, where Team 1 managed to win 28-18 over team two.

The Athabasca Bantam Trappers saw their undefeated season get washed away with the rain June 1. Their record fell to 4-and-1 with a decisive 17-8 loss to the Waskatenau Braves.

The season to play ball is now here, and that includes for the Athabasca Mites softball teams for girls ages seven to nine. Seventeen girls played the game on May 24 at Mosquito Diamond over at the University Multiplex.

Although the scoreboard wasn’t in their favour last Thursday, the Westlock Thunderbirds are attributing the loss in their Wheatland Football League season opener to a steep learning curve for the fresh, mostly new-to-football team.
